As I endeavor to be a more effective teacher there are some elements of the class that become very important to the success of the students. I have selected three areas of excellence that students may perfect. Each week they will earn points toward an award presented at the end of the session.  I call this the “Shining Star Award”. 

Up to 3 points can be earned each week: 

      Assignment Completion – By filling out the worksheets and practicing the assignment students earn 1 point.

      Attendance and Punctuality – On time students receive 1 point and tardy students ½ point.

      Memorization and Preparedness – Each week students perform their assignments and as they show the confidence and accomplishment that comes from being prepared and memorized they earn 1 point. 

Act 1 :  (5 weeks) X (3 areas of excellence) = possible 15 points

Students scoring 12 points or more for the session will be awarded the Shining Star Award Certificate and the following prize: 

      First Shining Star Award -- Clap board key chain

      Second Shining Star Award -- Trophy

      Third Shining Star Award – Comedy and tragedy faces Medal   

Act 2: (7 weeks) X (3 areas of excellence) = possible 21 points

Students scoring 18 points or more for the session will be awarded the Shining Star Award Certificate and the following prize: 

      First Shining Star Award –Trophy

      Second Shining Star Award -- Clap board Key chain or Picture Frame

      Third Shining Star Award -- Comedy and tragedy faces Medal or Key chain
