Workshop Audition Requirements

I ask the students to audition for placement in the One Act Play Workshops, so that I know they really want to be in the class.
The audition gives me a glimpse at their acting skills, personalities, what they look like, memorization ability,
and
it helps me decide what type of play will be best suited for the group.

After the Meet and Greet Audition all students will be accepted into the workshop
as long as six or more students enroll for a particular week, and I feel each one is ready to work hard
in rehearsal as a team member and has the patience & focus to spend in rehearsal
STAGE 1     AUDITION
Can be simple: a poem, a paragraph from a favorite book, lines from a TV show or movie, or a speech from a historical character.
STAGE 2    AUDITION
Students are to memorize one 30-60 second monologue. They are to prepare it with a character, blocking, emotions, and an understanding
of the story being told by the character.
STAGE 3    AUDITION
Students are to memorize two contrasting (30-60 second) monologues
They are to prepare the monologues with physical and vocal characterization, mannerisms, objectives and tactics.
In addition if students have a special skill such as: tumbling, singing, playing a musical instrument, accents, foreign language, dance ect
I would love for them to come prepared to show me a brief sample of the skill.

Level Placement, Registration, and Tuition

Students may audition for any level. Level 3 is taught only in the summer.
Students and parents may choose choose the size of  the part and the
amount of rehearsal time by choosing to enroll in a specific level.

Final Level Placement will be decided by Jenny Grace

Based on audition performance, her knowledge of student abilities, and the casting needs of the script.
It is an Acting Out Loud philosophy that eager students can be taught the skills necessary to succeed in their given roles.
Often students are placed in the roles that will help them learn and grow the most.
Students and parents will be given the opportunity to accept level placement before script selection and casting is final.
